Should Obesity be Considered a Disability?

Comment:

The European Court of Justice is going to rule on a case that would mean employers across the EU have to treat obesity as a disability.

The case that could cause a binding decision on whether or not obesity should be considered and treated as a disability is that of a Danish childminder who claims to have been fired for being too fat. Though his former employer claims is what down to a drop in children.

In the UK it is estimated that half of adults are either overweight or obese, these people make up large section of working people and a ruling in favour of obesity counting as a disability would have big implications for businesses. It is suggested that changes that to be made to comply with EU law could include changes to office furniture and provision of parking spaces.
