How We Work
I work with my clients to help them find solutions to their health issues.
My education and work experience span the fields of psychology, nutrition and exercise, thus giving me a unique blend of insights and skills to help you create change in your life.
At times I work as a therapist, sometimes as a coach, and often as an educator. Depending on the needs of my clients, where they are at on a particular day, and the goals they wish to achieve, will all have an affect on the way I work with someone.
It is important to start with a clear idea of what you want to achieve, so I will help you clarify your goals and objectives. Motivation and readiness to change are important factors, so I will check in with you to see if now is the right time.
If you keep doing the same things in the same way, you will get the same results. So at the end of each session we will agree some homework tasks for you to complete. Together we will explore the outcomes of the changes you have made. You will learn new things about yourself; your thinking style, your behaviours, how you deal with emotions, how changing nutrition makes you feel, how you deal with stress, and the trigger events and situations in your life that you find challenging.
My job is to help you build new skills and tools to help you deal with life challenges, while at the same time helping you move towards your goals. When you have new healthy ways of coping, it becomes easier to let go of distorted coping skills attached to food you don't want, or need, anymore.
I like to work with people in blocks of 6-sessions. I feel this gives us a check-in point to see if we are on track. Most of my clients feel they have made massive progress within 6 sessions, and many choose to continue working with me.
The overall amount of time you need to work with me will depend upon your particular health issue, and the many personal and lifestyle factors you bring with you. Personal growth and change is a personal thing, and I will work at your pace.
I am very passionate about what I do, and I hope I get a chance to work with you.
James Lamper Health Psychologist & Associates
I am pleased to say that I have helped hundreds of clients change their lives over the past few years, and now it is time to spread the magic around the UK.
In 2011 I created a training course in the James Lamper method so that a team of associates can help more clients all over the UK.
I am very excited that Deborah Fields joins the team in October 2011, with a location in Lancing, West Sussex. More associates will join us in 2012.
We have regular meetings to share skills, tools and strategies so that we offer our clients best practice, professionalism and results.
Please contact us at info@weightmatters.co.uk if you are interested in joining the team.
